The upcoming UK analogue switch off
Will your phone stop ringing?
From the 31st of January 2027 Openreach will switch off the UK's old analogue telephone network (PSTN and ISDN) permanently. After that point, any device you have which plugs into an old-fashioned telephone socket and relies on a dial tone (POTS) will cease to function. This isn't just limited to telephones, it could be an alarm system, a fax a franking machine or something else that nobody knows your business still relies on. On the plus side, there is still time to move to a modern internet-based phone system and keep that old number alive. What's more, it will work from anywhere, paving the way for more flexible and adaptable remote and mobile working options.
